Checklist before sharing X follower research with your team

Before sharing X follower research, check who needs it, whether a summary is enough, how the profiles were collected and which conclusions the evidence supports. Revealed stores scan data locally; a CSV you export and share becomes part of your own file workflow. This checklist helps make the handoff clear and proportionate.

The answer in full

An audience research handoff should let another person understand both the findings and their limits. Revealed keeps scans and audience analysis in local Chrome extension storage, and its Free plan includes raw CSV export. Once you export a file, you decide how it is stored and shared; the extension's local processing does not control copies placed in team tools. Before sending anything, define the recipient's research question and decide whether a summary answers it without a full profile list. Attach the account handle, scan date, collected profile count and any coverage limitations to the findings. Separate observations from interpretations, and avoid presenting missing data as a negative conclusion about a person. Check the destination and intended audience for the file, then document who will maintain the research and when it should be refreshed. This checklist supports a practical team handoff. It is not a legal compliance assessment, and follower visibility alone does not establish permission for marketing contact.

Research checklist

Review each item before acting on the audience data. Record anything unresolved in your research notes.

  • The recipient and research purpose are clear

Write who will use the findings and what decision they need to make. Avoid sending a full follower file simply because it is available.

  • The smallest useful handoff is selected

Choose a summary, supporting examples or a raw CSV according to the task. Keep only the information needed to understand or review the findings.

  • Collection context travels with the findings

Include the researched account, scan date, profile count and partial-scan limitations. Without these details, a snapshot can be mistaken for a complete or current audience.

  • Claims are tied to evidence

Label self-reported roles and locations as profile signals. Separate observed text from your interpretation, and keep uncertain conclusions visible.

  • The destination and access are checked

Check where an exported file will be stored and who can see it before sharing. Revealed's local storage does not control an external spreadsheet or copied file.

  • An owner and refresh point are recorded

Identify who maintains the research and when it should be reviewed. Recheck old profile information before using it for a new decision.

A handoff note your teammate can use

Use a short note with the research question, source account, collection date, coverage, key observations, interpretation and unresolved questions. Link each conclusion to the evidence the recipient needs to review.

If the brief says an audience contains a professional group, explain whether that conclusion came from bio wording, reviewed examples or another source. Do not turn a keyword match into a verified qualification.

Local analysis and shared files have different boundaries

Revealed processes the scan locally in Chrome. Exporting and sending a CSV is a separate action under your control. Check the sharing settings of whichever tool receives the file.

A summary can often answer an audience composition question without circulating every collected profile. If individual examples are necessary, explain why they are included and avoid unsupported labels about those people.

What to keep in mind

  • The checklist is an operational research aid, not legal advice or a compliance certification.
  • Shared exports can become outdated as profiles and collection coverage change.
  • A follower relationship does not establish consent to outreach.
FAQ

Common questions

01Does Revealed control a CSV after I share it?

No. Revealed keeps scans locally, but exported files are handled by the storage and sharing tools you choose.

02Should I send the entire follower list to a client?

First decide what evidence the client needs. An audience summary and documented limitations may answer the question without a raw profile list.

03Does Revealed upload the followers I scan?

No. Scans run in your own browser and the audience data (profiles, bios, analytics and exports) stays in Chrome extension storage on your device. Revealed’s servers only handle your account, plan and billing.
