X follower snapshots: questions about coverage and timing
A Revealed follower snapshot represents the profiles collected from an accessible X follower list during a scan. It is dated research evidence, not a guaranteed complete or continuously updated view of everyone following the account. Keep collection coverage and timing visible whenever you describe or compare audiences.
The answer in full
A collected follower snapshot needs context before it can support an audience claim. Revealed reads lists you can already access through your signed-in X browser session and makes collected profiles available for local research. The collection tells you what was obtained during that scan, rather than guaranteeing a complete census or a live feed of changes. Record the source account, date and collected count alongside the research question. If collection is incomplete, qualify statements about roles, locations and overlap accordingly. Comparing snapshots taken at different times adds another limitation: differences can reflect changes in what was collected as well as changes in the underlying list or profile text. Do not call an absent account an unfollower without separate evidence of that event. Use the questions below to document the scope of your research before interpreting an apparent change. X can challenge or restrict automated access, so stop if it presents a challenge rather than trying to obtain completeness by bypassing a restriction.
Does a snapshot include every follower?
A scan provides collected profiles. Its completeness depends on collection coverage; do not assume a public follower total and a collected count are equivalent. State the count and any known interruption alongside findings.
Revealed only reads lists you can already access. It does not bypass X restrictions to obtain missing profiles.
Can I describe a snapshot as live audience data?
Describe it using its collection date. Profile text and follower relationships may change after collection, so a past snapshot does not establish the account's current composition.
For a time-sensitive decision, identify which observations need fresh evidence. A new scan still needs its own coverage note.
Does an account missing from a later collection prove an unfollow?
No. Different collection coverage can produce absence without establishing an unfollow event. A comparison of collected lists should be reported as such.
Do not label the difference as churn, growth or a change in loyalty unless the evidence actually establishes that event.
What should go beside a comparison?
Include both source accounts, collection dates, collected counts and known coverage limitations. Then name the specific difference observed, such as shared accounts in the collected lists.
That makes a research comparison reviewable without implying an exhaustive measurement of the platform.
What to keep in mind
- A collected snapshot is not guaranteed complete or continuously updated.
- Absence from a collection does not prove an unfollow.
- Do not bypass access challenges or restrictions to increase coverage.
Common questions
01Should I keep the collection date in an audience report?
Yes. The date distinguishes the observed collection from the account's current audience.
02Can incomplete collections affect overlap?
Yes. Missing profiles may omit shared accounts, so record coverage for both collected lists.
03Does Revealed upload the followers I scan?
No. Scans run in your own browser and the audience data (profiles, bios, analytics and exports) stays in Chrome extension storage on your device. Revealed’s servers only handle your account, plan and billing.
04Can scanning with Revealed get my X account suspended?
It's possible. Revealed reads follower lists through your own signed-in X account, and X restricts automated access to its service. X can challenge, restrict or suspend accounts it believes are automated, including linked accounts. Revealed only reads data and paces scans to reduce the risk, but it can't control X's decisions. Keep scans modest, stop if X shows you a challenge, and avoid scanning from a business or client account.
